Once-Weekly Injections
Dermaesthetics can prescribe an effective at-home injectable that helps control weight and achieve the body you want. Injected at any time, once a week, WEGOVY & MOUNJARO are an effective way to lose weight as part of a controlled diet and active lifestyle.
During your consultation, we will ask questions about your medical history, weight goals and history with weight loss before prescribing the medication and to ensure that the right medication is chosen for you.
The treatment comes in the form of an injection pen which is pre filled has four needles. If you meet the required criteria to commence treatment you will be started on the lowest starting dose which will be increased accordingly as and when necessary. You will have regular follow up appointments with myself to monitor progress and to support you throughout your weight loss journey.

How Does it Work?
It works by mimicking the actions of your own natural hormones (GLP 1) which regulate appetite and how much you eat. The injection makes you feel fuller, for longer so you don’t eat as much or get strong cravings. It stimulates insulin secretion and reduces glucagon (hormones released by the pancreas) which can help reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes and help prevent heart disease and strokes.
The drugs are approved in the UK to help you lose weight when used in conjunction with an active lifestyle and a balanced diet. Exercise and diet are an important part of looking and feeling good – the once-weekly injections may help you further maximise results.
What is the procedure?
It is a weekly, subcutaneous injection which is self-administered.
Are There Any Side Effects?
As with all drugs, there is the potential to cause side effects. When you first start the injections you may experience nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. Therefore, the dose is started low and increased gradually – this process helps avoid any of these unwanted effects.
How Many Treatments Would I Need?
The treatment is such that you would take it weekly until you reach the desired result and then you would continue to take a lower dosage thereafter to maintain that result.
What Results Can I Expect To See?
Weight loss results differ from person to person but expect to lose a minimum of 5% of your initial body weight after completing 12 weeks of treatment. Once you reach a healthy weight, we will adjust your dosage so as to maintain that weight and avoid becoming underweight.
