12+ years advanced level aesthetic injecting experience

After relocating to Driffield where I had attended Driffield School and Sixth form, I worked for 16 years as a Practice Nurse specialising in Respiratory illness.

I became interested in Aesthetic treatments including dermal fillers and Botox® /Azzalure® in 2002 and trained with various companies to gain skills in aesthetic procedures. I have been injecting for over 17 years and working at an advanced level for several years now.

I am an Independent Nurse Prescriber and therefore able to work completely independently and within current legal guidelines to carry out such procedures.

As well as working within my own business I worked for 2 years at Transform in Leeds and then Harvey Nichols in Leeds gaining invaluable experience. For the last 4 years I have attended the 2 day conferences in London with Allergan® headed by world renowned facial surgeon Mauricio de Miao.

Through this I have had the opportunity to learn the 8 point face lift techniques using the MD codes, which has been a huge benefit in revolutionising the way in which Juvéderm® fillers are used.

Treatments are offered in my private clinic located in Driffield as well as various salons across North and East Yorkshire. Please see contact page for more details.

Why we are regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC)

Dermaesthetics is thrilled to have  become a Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulated clinic in July 2021.

Becoming regulated by the CQC – the independent regulator of health and social care in England – even though there is currently no legal requirement to be inspected was really important to me as I felt that currently the Aesthetic market is unregulated and standards of care for people seeking treatments can be substandard and carried out by people who have neither the competence or expertise or adequate facilities to carry out these procedures.

I want my patients to be reassured that they will be assessed and treated in a safe manner with full access to follow up care as needed, whilst maintaining dignity and privacy at all times.
The CQC monitors and inspects all registered services to make sure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety.
They primarily consider whether services are safe and protect people from harm, whether they are effective and achieve good outcomes, if they are caring and treat people with kindness, whether they are responsive and how well they are led as organisations.

Full consent and safe treatments a priority

Fundamental standards demanded by the CQC include providing ‘person-centred care’ and ensuring full consent before any treatment is provided.
Inspectors look to ensure safe treatments are always provided and that systems are in place to allow people to complain if they are unhappy.
Crucially, the CQC demands that organisations have ‘fit and proper’ staff and must only employ people who can provide care and treatment appropriate to their roles.
It carries out regular inspections and provides a breakdown of how organisations are performing in the key areas outlined above, with overall ratings published, ranging from outstanding, good, requires improvement and inadequate.
Crucially, for transparency, CQC ratings must be displayed in a place where people can see it at the organisation’s premises.
They must also be included on the organisation’s website, with the latest inspection report and findings also made available.

Action taken against clinics for unsafe practices

Evidence of the CQC becoming more focussed on cosmetic and aesthetics clinics was evident in October 2019, when it warned of “emerging concerns” relating to independent cosmetic surgery clinics. This led to action being taken against 12 different providers. Issues included staff without the appropriate training, qualifications, and competencies for their role, unsafe sedation and anaesthetics practices and not following infection prevention and control standards.

Being CQC regulated, means that Dermaesthetics will be expected to uphold the same standards as hospitals and GP surgeries for management, safety, treatments and procedures carried out.
